The teacher is the class

You can buy any app. What you cannot download is an adult who says your child's name, waits for their answer and celebrates it. Our teachers are native speakers of Spanish and French, with years of experience teaching children, and we train every one of them in our own method.

Laura, the person behind the method

Laura is one of the founders of Diluu and the person who creates our methodology and teaches it to every teacher who joins the team.

She has a degree in Education from the University of León, specialising in language teaching, and she is currently studying a master's degree at Universidad de La Rioja on how to use AI and new technologies to build teaching materials.

She is the reason no two Diluu classes look the same: she is always looking for new resources and activities to surprise the children, and she never stops training to keep improving what happens in class.

What a Diluu teacher does that a screen cannot

Being a native speaker is the starting point, not the qualification. Teaching a 5 year old in a language they barely speak takes a very specific skill, and that is what we look for.

  • Small groups so every child speaks: a maximum of 6 children, and a maximum of 4 in beginner groups and in groups of 4 to 6 year olds. The literacy course is one-to-one.
  • They know when not to correct: a child who is corrected on every word stops talking. Our teachers know these children, and they let mistakes go by so the class keeps flowing.
  • Everything in Spanish, from day one: with Total Physical Response, gestures and visuals, beginners understand without a word of translation.
  • They know each child: who is shy, who needs a challenge, who is a heritage speaker that understands everything but answers in English.
  • The same curriculum for everyone: the Diluu curriculum is standardised, so whichever teacher your child has, they cover the same contents at each level.

How we choose our teachers

A rigorous process, because your child's Wednesday afternoon depends on who is on the other side of the screen.

1

Native speakers

We only take on native speakers of Spanish or French, with the accent and the everyday language children will actually hear from family and friends.

2

Years with children

Every teacher arrives with several years of experience working with children, from early years to secondary school. Teaching adults and teaching a class of 5 year olds have almost nothing in common.

3

Able to make it fun

We assess their language skills and their ability to teach in a fun, effective way. We only accept teachers with a genuine passion for teaching children.

4

Trained by us, and kept training

Laura trains every new teacher in the Diluu methodology, and the whole team keeps training with us so each class stays current and effective.

You do not have to take our word for it

Book a €3 trial class and watch a real teacher with your child. That is the only test that counts.

One language, many accents

Our team is multicultural on purpose. Children hear Spanish from both sides of the Atlantic and learn that there is no single "correct" way to speak it.

🇪🇸 Spain 🇨🇴 Colombia 🇵🇪 Peru 🇦🇷 Argentina 🇻🇪 Venezuela 🇨🇱 Chile 🇲🇽 Mexico

For families raising bilingual kids abroad this matters more than it looks: your child's Spanish should sound like their grandparents', not like a textbook. Teachers also bring the culture behind the language, from festivals to food, so kids learn it in a real context.

Who is on the team

Not "native speakers who happen to be available". These are the people we hire.

🎓

Qualified in education

Degrees in early years and primary education, modern languages, speech therapy and therapeutic pedagogy, plus teachers who have worked in schools and bilingual classrooms.

💙

1 in 3 with special needs experience

More than a third of the team has worked with children with special educational needs, from autism to language difficulties. It shows in how patient they are with every child.

🎭

Theatre in their background

Many of them are actors or drama teachers. That is where our reading and theatre classes come from, and why the shy ones end up performing.

🗣️

About half also speak English

Useful for a first class or a nervous beginner, although classes themselves stay in the target language.

How they teach

The same four things happen in every Diluu class, whoever the teacher is.

🎯

One child at a time

Teachers track each child's progress individually and adjust the pace and the content to them, even inside a group.

🎲

Learning through play

Games, songs, stories and interactive materials matched to each age, so children stay motivated for the whole class (30 or 45 minutes, depending on the level).

📚

Ongoing training with us

Every teacher is trained in the Diluu method and keeps training with us, so what worked in a classroom actually works through a screen.

🤫

They know when not to correct

Children who are corrected on every word go quiet. Our teachers let small mistakes pass and pick the moment to fix them, so kids keep talking.

🧭

The same curriculum

Our curriculum is standardised: whoever the teacher is, all the children at one level cover the same contents.

🌍

Culture, not just vocabulary

Every teacher brings their own country into the class, so kids understand the language in a real, global context.

Spanish teachers and French teachers

Spanish teachers

Native teachers from Spain and Latin America who turn each lesson into games, songs and stories. From complete beginners to bilingual kids who understand everything but need the confidence to speak.

Spanish classes for kids

French teachers

Native francophone teachers who introduce French through stories, songs and games, adapted to each child's age and level of understanding.

Questions about our teachers

How does Diluu choose its teachers?

Through a rigorous selection process that assesses their language skills, their experience with children and their ability to teach in a fun and effective way. We only take on native speakers with a real passion for teaching, and every teacher then trains in the Diluu method.

What experience do your teachers have?

All our teachers are native speakers with several years of experience working with children, from early years to secondary school. Many hold degrees in education, modern languages, speech therapy or therapeutic pedagogy, and more than a third have worked with children with special educational needs. They all receive ongoing training from us in the Diluu methodology.

Where are the teachers from?

We have a very diverse and multicultural team, with Spanish teachers from Spain, Colombia, Peru, Argentina, Venezuela, Chile and Mexico. Children hear different accents and get to know different cultures.

Do all teachers teach the same content?

Yes. The Diluu curriculum is standardised, so all the children at the same level cover the same contents whoever their teacher is. Each teacher then adapts the activities and the pace to the children in their group.

How long is a class?

Classes last 30 or 45 minutes depending on the level. Younger children and beginners work best in shorter sessions, while higher levels need more time.

How many children does a teacher have in each class?

A maximum of 6 children per group, including reading and theatre classes. Beginner groups and groups of 4 to 6 year olds have a maximum of 4. The literacy course is one-to-one, so the child has the teacher's full attention.

How do teachers adapt the class to my child?

Teachers follow each child's progress individually and adjust the pace and content to their needs. They design activities around the child's age, level of understanding and interests, using games, songs and interactive stories to keep them motivated.

My child is a complete beginner. Will the teacher speak their language?

Our beginner classes are entirely in the target language. Teachers use Total Physical Response: everything they say is supported by gestures and visual aids, so children understand from day one. Beginner groups have a maximum of 4 children.

Are the classes safe for children?

Yes. We create unique links and passwords for each group that only our students and their teacher can access. We record the sessions to review teaching quality, and access to those recordings is restricted exclusively to the teacher coordinator.

Looking for a French teacher?
